As one of the basic cognitive mechanisms of human being, the principle of Cognitive Reference Point (CRP) can be used to analyze not only the static discourse which contains only language symbol system but also the inner coherent mechanism of multimodal video discourses. Taking Hangzhou G20 Summit Promo MV “Like You, Be with You” as an example, this study explores the mental path of the conceptualizer and construct the cognitive model to achieve its textual coherence. Based on this analysis, a comprehensive discussion of the coherent meaning and theme of this video promo is made from the perspective of successful communication.
This review article addresses gender and language use in textual computer mediated communication (CMC). Gender and language use are tied together in CMC as reflected in the linguistic and feminist literature. These are two basic, fundamental, and important concepts in different CMC theoretical frameworks. Therefore, it is important to examine how genders differ in CMC in terms of their linguistic features such as word choices, sentence length, style, topics and platforms preferences. Furthermore, it is of great significance to offer suggestions on what people can do to promote gender equality in the CMC environment.
